yep 3d realsoft has very good wireframe rendering. I use a wire frame all the time it is mainly to prove that you made the 3d model. I would highly recommend starting 3d, since most 3d renders can do this. It will also push your work to the next level.

photoshop on the other hand really cant do this unless you mainly draw all the lines in where you think there is a contour, hope that helped.
