The best way to learn this is to pick one tool at a time, open up Photoshop Help (hit F1), read it and then play around with the tool.

You don't have to learn them all, but you'll find that there are some things you'll be doing over and over again, and it'll speed up your workflow if you know the shortcuts.

- Forgetting to Save regularly
- Collecting so many presets (brushes, styles, shapes etc.) that it slows down Photoshop and you can never find the one you want

One of the best ways to learn any technique in Photoshop is to Google "Photoshop
xxxxx tutorial" - where
xxxxx is whatever you want to do..."Photoshop layers tutorial" for example. You'll be amazed at the amount of stuff there is available.
If you're Old Skool (like me) and prefer learning stuff from books, there are also lots of those available. If you're starting totally from scratch, some thing like
Adobe CS2 Classroom In A Book might be a good choice.
If you get really stuck, try asking a question in the forum here - there are lots of very knowledgeable members here.
