I'm so new to all this stuff never even been registered to use a forum thingo such as this but see there is a lot of helpful ppl about these things so....

I was wondering if anyone could help me out, I have downloaded a heap of great looking brushes and put them into
ps cs4 they are there and work somewhat but not how they are meant to,
if it makes any sense they are flat, for example a blood splatter brush that is meant to have a reflective shine on it when used only gives me a solide shape filled with solid color? is this because its not compatiable with cs4 or because i have done something worng? i have had and used simular brushes that worked great on cs3 bt this time i've had no luck? sad because they look so great and are exactly what i need..
