I personally like
AbstractFonts.
You can click on the font display and get a choice of downloading a zip or ttf. I always choose the ttf because I forget to then go unzipping what I download.
As far as installing fonts - I don't. I either use a font manager to load and unload them, or open and minimize them on the desktop temporarily.
