Look in
Applications//Adobe Photoshop CS3/Plug-Ins/File Formats
Do you see a file called
Png.8bi?
If it's not there, that could be your problem.
If it is there, it may be corrupted - which may be the cause of your problem.
Either way, you could try the patch mentioned in turvas's post. It's not going to break anything, and it might even fix your problem.
