Sarah apologies for going off topic.
Often if I've received a power point document I'll do a screen grab (On PC press Alt/Print Sreen) and paste the results in an Illustrator layer to be re-traced either by hand or using LiveTrace. That might seem painful but the reason being WMF is not so great if you need your work to be vinyl or laser cuttable etc.
Just occured to me another option I've had success with is to
convert your powerpoint to a PDF.
If you have the latest MS I believe there's an option to export to PDF. If not install the
free PDF995 printer. Then simply print the powerpoint to PDF995 and the result will be a fairly standard PDF containing all your vector and bitmap work. The
pdf can be opened directly in Adobe Illustrator for futher editing.
