I've been having the same issues with flash 9 as well. I'm on a intel based mac and i've been reading that this has caused some issues, i'm not worried about it so much with the browsers but when I try to play .swf for work.
So this isn't a help for the browser issues so much as for the running of .swf or .flv. But there is a free player out there that so far is working quite nicely. You can download
here...BUT it is for mac only. But it helps
