Hi Lisa,

I'm a beginner in Illustrator myself, so this may not work, but what if you selected the whole woman and then copied and pasted it on top of itself (Paste in Front)? Then delete the anchor points that make up her body and you have the hand by itself. Then you can change the location of it. You could also duplicate the layer for this. If you do decide to try it, please do so on a copy! I've learned that the hard way!
