high res camera vs. low res monitor

the other day i uploaded a pic (las Vegas at night to be specific) and when i click to view by image, since my monitor is of lesser resolution than my camera, the window is so huge that i cannot find the sides of it to close the window or resize it or view the pic.
I'm at 1280x1024 on my monitor and can't go any larger.
and I'm using IE6 if you need to know.
this has happened a few times.
anything i can do to my PC to fix this?
more importantly.....does it do this to you?
i don't want to be posting pics that are problematic with being viewed by others. yet i do not wish to reduce the image size as this would reduce the clarity of my images.

man1c... does bulletin have a software fix for this?
p.s. i like the new setup. no wonder i haven't seen you lurking, you've been busy!
oh, and the sheep aren't really worried, they're just being coy.
