I don't think upgrading would remove your existing brushes, but just to be on the safe side, copy the .ABR files from C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CS2\Presets\Brushes to a temporary folder elsewhere. Once you've upgraded, copy them back into C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CS3\Presets\Brushes. The same applies to other presets you want to retain.
