I could tell you how to do this in Photoshop (very simple, as you guessed), but that's not much use if you haven't got it. However, you're in luck because we have a new member called Sparky3006 who is an experienced GIMP user. Hopefully she will spot this thread and be along soon to help you out, or you could send her a PM.
