Hi sarah:
I'm not an expert on either Powerpoint or Illustrator, but I just tried this and it seemed to work.

In Powerpoint, save the slide that contains your logo as a Windows Metafile (.WMF format)
Open the WMF file in Illustrator - each individual item in your logo (including the text) will be an editable object.
