Well, for a start there's a spell-checker add-on for Firefox. Add-ons are wonderful - you can get all sorts of add-ons that enhance and smoothen your browsing experience. Too many to mention here.
Boring interface, you say? Well, it doesn't have to be. There are dozens (probably hundreds) of themes available for Firefox so it's entirely up to you - you can make your interface as flashy or as streamlined as you like.
And of course, let's not forget security. Micro$oft might have improved things a bit with IE7, but compared to Firefox, IE still has more holes than grandpa's string vest.
There are probably lots more complicated technical reasons why Firefox beats IE hands down (and I'm sure someone more qualified than me will be along shortly to explain them), but the reasons I've stated above pretty much do it for me.
