Some of the brushes in that package are made by the same person who made the tutorial. I wasn't sure if they were the same brushes he used in the tutorial or not. If they aren't the same, then there could be some that are similar enough that they may work.

I agree. Your results may not look exactly the same, but there's nothing wrong with that. That's why a lot of tutorial writers don't post (give links to) the brushes/renders/cutouts they use to make their tutorials. They want you to learn the technique but they also like for you to add your own twist/variations to it.
