I need help with game graphics!
Hello BioRust game community,
I am an amateur programmer who recently undertook a project to build a computer game on the computer. The game has already finished some of it's base work but furthering development has been slowed down by the fact that my graphics artist ran out on me, which left me with 2 options. Find someone else who has a creative artistic instinct and the ability/knowhow to put it on a computer screen, or start drawing. Seeing as the latter should never be done by a programmer, I come to the BioRust community in hope of a solution.
I was recently referred to BioRust by one of it's moderators (I do not however want to inspire any conflict of interest so I won't specify which). The moderator had read a post in a forum called 'NXSecure' in which I am looking for graphic artists to help create images and animations for a game I am working on.
First off, I can not guarentee you will get paid but if the game really does get published I am willing to split the earnings (an exact percentage can be debated privately).
Secondly, the graphics will mostly be small time. A logo, game over, and some small cinematic animations, will be required but the rest is simple 2D SNES style RPG characters (think FF3).
So if doing work with the possibility of no pay is a chance you're willing to take, please add me to your MSN or otherwise, drop me a line at fenixrod@hotmail.com
Thank you for your time and consideration

Wow
First of all, thank you for the replies, I did not expect to get even this much support.
To 5-0, seeing as the game is only in its first few birth stages, the engine has been fully programmed only to handle animations and basic movements.
To start I will be making a basic GUI design, but without actually seeing what it will look like makes it difficult. I am using some small test images (coke can for player, and some terrain made of a non-tileable water image), it is difficult to judge how big I need the characters to be vs. wall tiles, and other objects, as well as how menus should display what kind of in-game displays I will use/have room for.
As it is right now, all I can really use is some form of 3 or more tileable terrains (grass, desert, paved, etc.). A main hero character (4-direction walk cycle is all i need for right now), and perhaps some sort of building (a weapon shop?).
I will be keeping track of who contributes and I guarentee you will be fully credited for your work.
And to Muffins. I honestly do not know why the moderator, in their wisdom, moved this post to the 3d-Art section, but I do not require any 3-D art. This will be a birds eye view, 2D RPG adventure game.
Thanks again for your time and consideration. As soon as I get screenshots I will post them for those who are interested in seeing the game's progress.

Programmer needs your input...
Seeing as there is no guarentee of pay I do not, in all honesty and due respect, expect too many people to stay with this all the way through. However, I am now making level-design capabilities for the game, in order to build maps and the such. And I have come to a difficult program decision. Should I make the maps from tileable images which I can get help from you guys creating, and will make designing levels that much easier for me, or should I put all my trust in the BioRust community and it's creative artists.
In other words, can I expect you to continually support me and provide map graphics that I require (eg. create a happy happy seemingly friendly town, with 4 distributed civilian buildings, as well as weapon and armor shops, and a road leading off the right side of the screen) or should I just stick to designing the levels myself leaving your work minimal (make a tileable image of water, paved road, dirt road, grass, etc.)
Truthful and immediate responses would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again for all your help!

well anyways does your game even have a story line that will hook peoples minds and such such as the Diablo story lines or is it just a basic pick a guy and kill the baddie like many video games?

Heya Manifest...
My game involves mostly storyline RPG style game. I try to avoid long pointless battle sequences, as many complain about feeling bored, or unsatisfied with the gaming experience. I have written up the outline for a story, with a couple of finer details I need to fill in. However, right now I am focusing on building and testing the engine.
Creating towns, maps, dialogue, battle sectors, and the overall storyline (with side-quests) will be far in the future when I have completed building and testing the engine (although a certain childish anxiety keeps me writing up storylines when I fry myself from programming).
For all who would like a general overview of the end storyline and plot, please email me at fenixrod@hotmail.com and I will send you a txt version of it. Also please specify whether or not you care for spoilers!
Thanks again to the whole BioRust community.
PLEASE email me if you want to contribute!

FenixRoA, please don't double/triple post.
I moved this to 3D Modelling because I felt you were going to have to model the scenery/characters with some 3D program. I didn't know it would be 100% 2D. Also, this forum best suits this thread. The Games/Gaming board is for discussing games, not creating them.
