And maya will run an most machines, the thing that requires a good system is the rendering process.

But I think that most PC that where made in 2007/ 2008 will run maya....

You could post up your specs, than we can tell you if it will work (or not) for you.

Hey there. Well, this is the major problem with the custom 3d packages out there: they are not for free. Maya does have a "learning edition" with limited options kicking around or you can download a 30 day working trial at Autodesk - Design Innovation. But if you are looking for a truly free 3D package to implement into your pipeline you probably want to check out Blender which is open source and as free as it gets. It will run best on Windows XP or Vista with at least 2 gigs of RAM and 2.4 or higher processor. But again it depends on how deep you want to go.

Cheers,

Yeah... The Maya PLE cannot be and is not usable for commercial projects.

Same goes with Alias Studio PLE...its sister software.

if you are doing commercial work, then i would suggest purchasing the software, but if that's just not in the budget, then try the open source software called blender, it's free and can really do some great things. blender.org - Home
