Best 3D program?

If you are new to the 3d world, and love a challenge, and would like to be able to output work that could be considered on par with maya and 3ds max, I would suggest you to learn blender. It is an open source program that is increasing it's power and ability to achieve what the big company names can produce. oh and it's free!

The only downfall to this program is that the initial learning curve to this program is pretty high, but once you learn it, the sky is the limit.

Bryce is best. But you're right about its speed (or lack thereof) If Daz ever releases a version with speed, Bryce'll slaughter everything else.

I use that and Cinema4D. And Wings3D for modeling.

I've tried Blender numerous times and still find it one of the least user friendly progs around, free or not - it hates me.
