I think it's all useful information anyway, whether the original poster responds or not.

yeah...but I think vue has more value as an plug-in for maya/ max or cinema(or alike)...

You do need the pricy xstream version then, but it works really cool!

(at the moment my file is corupted, so it isnt working for me )

To me, the best free 3D program is Blender 3D.

The best accurate modeller is Rhino 3D.

Vue 6 and Poser 7 go well together. Of course if you want free Daz Studio is available though I find it quite clunky to use but it integrates well with Bryce 6, I suppose it is all a matter of taste I started off with Bryce but do find that Vue 6 Infinite beats it.

I have used 3D Studio Max, Poser and Lightwave for years. Have also used Maya, which is a really cool program. Rhino is pretty good too.
Of the free programs about Blender is the tops by far.

I have TRIED...invain ....to get into DAZ Studio and Bryce but find these are so cluncky and awkward to use.
The VERY first program I used was Truespace!! Now that is a real clunky program!!

ZBrush for 3D

Greetings all, I'm a bit late to this thread but I only discovered the site today.
I would encourage anyone with an interest in 3D to have a play with ZBrush. Coming from a traditional sculpting background, it makes the most sense to me, rewards time spent with it fairly quickly and is capable of astonishing work.
The free demo is fun but the full program is quite affordable, especially considering its strength and versatility.
I use it alongside Poser, Carrara, Hexagon and DAZ Studio, each job seems to require a different mix of bits. But ZBrush is far and away the strongest of all these.
Cheers,
Flipmil

Hey Flip,

The thing I expierenced in 3D is that there is no best programm It is like you say, it always requires a mixture of bits.

Zbrush is a great programm, when you are doing something with faces or characters. Ever tried to create and car in zbrush? Believe me I know, its hard

I believe that you always need one base app, like Maya or Cinema or 3DSmax.....and than you can have some more specialized tools like Zbrush or Daz (or terragen...etc) to make specialized things....

So: There is no best 3D programm!
