Well, in terms of using Adobe Photoshop or various other programs, there are many steps you can take to alter a drawing, such as color, shape, and the like.

If you could be a little more specific with your inquiry, I could provide you with more information as to what you might wish to attempt with your drawing.

Do you mean modelling in 3D?

if you mean modeling in 3D,
then first of al, you need a 3D prog, like Maya, cinema, studio max, blender, bryce and so on(the last three are free).

then you should first do some very easy 3d-Modeling tuts(to get the hang of it) over at pixel2life, or such an site. there are some great tut's here two under the recource tab.

then you should start with searching some blueprints of you're car, or make them yourself....(if you want to make youre OWN car)

then you should load those blueprints in as imageplanes, and you're ready to model you're very own car.

do mind that the getting the hang of it takes a while, you won't be able to get you're car done by tommorow.no really not

Well for the WHOLE process of modeling you own car, you would need either a blueprint/schematic's of your cars make/model. or a digital camera so you can take photos of your vehicle.
you can look at this link for reference as to how to setup your camera angles.

basically if you are taking photo's of your car, you will want a side, front, back, (and bottom and top, depending how detailed you want.)

then from your camera take them into photoshop or a photo editing software program, and arrange your photo's to look like the layout they used in the link i supplied above.

Once you have your "reference planes" created in photo editing program, export the image to a png or tiff (you'll want to keep the quality high, i find jpg's are annoying when it comes to reference schematics because of the image compression you lose image details.)

From there, I would probably just follow the tutorial , i looked it over it doesn't look too hard to follow.

looks great, for that amount of time!!
but indeed there is a lot of work left, but you can decide how much work that will be

if you want to texture you're car, with dirt and decals and stuff then you'll have to learn texturing to. But if I was you I would check out all the tuts there are on modeling first.....so that you can add the whees and stuff.....and after you finsihed modeling the car, then take a look at the texturing

well so far it's looking pretty good, I would be careful of the extra geometry on the side window, right now it's pretty close together (near the middle) which might create a slight bump when you render.

and as for the "painting" part, I usually wait until i get the mesh completed before i move into the texturing and materials part.

because everything is a solid mesh I would look into multi-channel texturing i guess... I am not too familiar with max anymore it's been a few years since i forced myself to do anything in it.

just do some searches for "3ds max shaders" or "how to make glass in 3ds max" just use your favorite search engine

so far it's looking pretty good, keep it up, and keep posting updates
