good tutorials

I've always wanted to do some 3d rendering, but I've always been intimidated out of it by clunky freeware programs and tutorials that assume I know things that I don't. It may be a Frequent question, but do you know of a good program/ tutorial for a complete beginner in this area.

Pixel2Life is a good source for tutorials on 3d programs (as well as many other programs). Google has a free 3d program called SketchPad if you want to check that out.

Hmm, i would start of with blender or something alike.....But you should know this, if you start with blender now then that will be the prog you get used too. And if you're used to blender then making the step to lets say 3dsmax is very difficult.

So i don't think you should choose a programm on its difficulty, but just start in the programm in which you want the work the rest of youre life!!

And about the tuts, here are some 3d sites.
3dslinks
highend3d
digitaltututors
simply...
simplymaya°paid, and you can go to simpymax and simplylightwave through it.
And ofcourse pixel2life as said above.

PS: And blender would maybe a good prog because it´s free!!
just as 3dstudiomax and there is a thread on biorust about freeware progs. maybe take a peek over there?

O, i forget too say that if you're going to give blender a try.....you must not think what a crapy renders i got.....the render engine of blender is just a bit hard to understand, you can get, if you understand the engine, get great results.

If you're going for maya, wich is a great prog, then there is a freeware version of maya.....but i dont know where too get. And offcourse for maya there are a lot of tuturials!! I think the other apps do have tuturials but don't know where

True, but I was also able to recieve photoshop through my father (he gave it to me) because he had it (no way in hell he'd buy it for me :P) and 3Ds Max is even more expensive if I'm not mistaken. The only program I'm ever used was wings, which is alot different from other ones supposedly, and I never got past making ismple blocky structures. I tried another one, I forget its name, started with an 'A' and was supposed to be alot like 3Ds Max, but didn't know what to do at all.

Hello, This is my first post here. If you are looking at getting into 3D, there are some things you need to be aware of.
First, do not expect this to come to you overnight. 3D is very hard
Second, Be perpared to spend almost every waking hr,practicing. It will become obsessive.
Unless you get comfortable with Blender, be perpared to dish out some money, 3D programs arnt cheap. The problem with Blender is, if your wanting to make a career out of this, you need to pick an app. that is widely used through the industry. Here are some links to the very well know applications

Cinema 4D

Link

3Ds Max

Link

Maya

Link

LightWave

Link

That should get you started. Out of all the app. I would have to say Maya is the hardest and Cinema being the most comfortable, now that is strickly my opinon and not a fact. I have been using Cinema for a little over 2 1/2 years. I ve been freelancing for about a year. The money pays very well and its a very rewarding job. If you need any more help I would be glad to give you a list of tutroial sites for whichever app. you decide to go with.

Good Luck!!

Maya is my choice for a program, full of features and easy to learn then most 3D packages.
