I've had a fiddle with it and must admit that it seemed simple enough. I've certainly seen the amazing artwork people can create with the program...

LOL, things have come a long way since I modelled weapons for a Quake 2 TC using a very dodgy vertex-only fan-designed modeller.

Well, you only need to master Maya there (which is easer said than done, I know) and just give don't care about Lightwavee and 3dsm

I admit that Maya is a FANTASTICALLY powerful application... but I'd need to dedicate my life to it to get decent results...

Well it all depends on how many thousands of dollars you want to spend. For me, i'm not even sure I want to stick with 3d, so i'm using blender. Its Free!

Maya is for serious modelers or millionares. The top end version , maya umlimited ( that offers unlimited polys) costs $7000 or there abouts. Then you have maya pro which i think is 2700-2500 polys and regular maya is under 2000.
You have to have lots of money and a serious comitment to modeling for you to benifit from alias products. You should master bryce before you upgrade to a more advanced product. As soon as you feel bryce is holding you back ,upgrade, by all means!

Well, I do agree with you there onbrid. Its why I hope Biorust can concentrate on more affordable products (i.e. Cinema 4D, Blender, Bryce), before going on to the ultra expensive Maya and 3DSMAX

I agree aswell....having expensive programs like Maya and have tutorials and the rest on the program and only a handful of people have the program, which leaves out the others who like affordable or free 3D programs.
