Oh great! Need to check the sites out too

I am just starting to get the feel for Painter. I have IX and I see some changes that they have in X That I would love to have. So far I have only been able to figure out a way to use chalk, oil pastel, acyric, and just started with airbrush to a point where I feel like I can create with them close to the way I would want.
I still get confused by the grain and I can't think of the other one but I guess it determines how much paint goes on. I have seen brushes to download for painter though I'm not sure where. I think they were on some of the sites mentioned above.
I also haven't figured out how to take certain layers and combine them like you can in photoshop to create one layer. I think the last time I tried what I thought would work I deleted my layer. OOpps. I have a book but it seems to deal more with photography than creating your own work. There is a new book I want to get that seems to deal more with the traditional type art. It's to expensive for me to buy right now but I told my husband that's the next thing on my wish list.
Ill enjoy seeing how you guys are making out with the program so I can hopefully learn more from you. Have fun!
