Not sure what you mean by a "div tutorial"?
Are you referring to CSS which uses <div></div> tags to apply formating rules?
As for putting text in an image, if you don't need to do it dynamically (changing on the fly) then photoshop is your best bet by far!
If you need to have the text changing at different times, then you'll have to use a <div> with a background image, and place your text over top... but then you will be limited to the 4 main font families!
