Oh and you should try out every button the program has, just take a cube and push all the buttons and try out the effects!!
If you do so you will find very handy buttons
I don't know if blender has them but the first two to look at are the booleans and the bevel buttons!!
PS. nice models, i think you should try to get a scene done....like some pils on a tube or something alike on a table....
