Hmm, I visited your website, and I found a few reasons why someone like me probably wouldn't join.
1. Typos. You had numerous typos and run-on sentences in the Index, History, and Tips and Tricks sections.
2. Way too much information on a single page. As a viewer, I dislike having to scroll to read information, especially the stuff that what you have on your index. Most of it is duh stuff (like, most people know how to navigate toolbars, for example). A good idea might be to cut down on the amount of explaining, and maybe running a news thing where you post recent news on photoshop (since you already went to the trouble of posting up the history).
3. What's up with the "optimized for windows explorer?" Why have this space filler?
4. The right column feels like a space filler. On my browser (mac safari, which you'll get a lot of, because many Mac users are artists), the google ads popped up over top of it, and when I realized there wasn't anything really there either, I just ended up leaving them there.
5. The whole website feels like a school assignment. It feels...plain, with its only unifying theme the color gray. Blah. Also, more images would be nice, especially for a photoshop website.
6. The forum has a completely different interface. It doesn't feel like a part of the website.
Okay, sorry for really busting your chops, but this is the stuff that I noticed just in the few minutes that I popped my head in. A good point is that everything is very clearly and plainly laid out, making it a good basis for growth. Good luck on your website!
