Well yea... I've recently had quite a blow of how cool the retro stuff actually is... And now i decided to share. The first one up: Text. Well actually retro style is all about rainbows. And alot of effective gadgets. And so is this tutorial.
First step: As usual. A new blank document (I prefer 500x500).
Second step: Find a groovy font which is a bit bolder than a usual font (Well if you cant find a groovy font, then a more regular font with bold will do). In this case i use "Soul Papa".
Third step: Write something. "RETRO!" will do perfectly. Font size should be quite large. Look at the image below.
Fourth step: The rainbows. Go to "layer blending options" and tick (in other words activate) "Garient Overlay". And make a nice warm garient that fits your taste.
Fifth step: Don't press ok yet! We now get to the most "retro" part of this tutorial.
Sixth step: The drop shadow. This is where it gets interesting. Under the blending options activate the "Drop Shadow". Enter the settings shown below:
This is what gives it that curvy stroke effect.
Seventh step: Still don't press ok.
Eight step: Add a little softening "Inner glow". This makes it all nice and smooth. Enter the following settings:
Ninth step: Finally u may press ok.
Tenth step: Fix little holes left untouched by the "drop shadow". For that make a new layer and use a black brush.
And we're done! Add some little stuff and more to make it look even cooler and that's it!
Soon to come from me: Retro style backgrounds and brushes.
