Royalty Free Photos are not necessarily free. Royalty Free only means that you do not need to pay royalties to someone for their work. Most often these works are sold at a flat fee up front. You can find a lot of excellent stock images at sxc.hu that are completely free (they also have images that are not free).
As for the specific images I would suggest replacing the eye image with another instead of trying to manipulate it. I also agree with Tamlin that a full face image would flow better than a close-up.
One suggestion, to make the images fit better, would be to give them all a soft-glow (similar to the third image). To get the effect you could try duplicating the layer, put the blending option to "Soft Light" or "Overlay" and then apply a gausion blur. Then just adjust the layer opacity until it looks correct.
