Unfortunately, Eric is right: where I work, we have a rolling replacement programme for computers that judges any PC over 3 years old to be obsolete, and this seems to reflect the general attitude of the IT industry.

thats just the way it is, but you might want to check for a possible upgrade instead of a massive new machine... that might delay the costs another generation of software, about 1-2 years
