i think it's better if you hand draw it. if you're not THAT good at drawing (like me) and still want to use a photo, try desaturating or converting to B/W and then painting/editing with new colour, maybe on grayscale it's simpler to add some elements like airships and high density atmosphere shields...

and now i'm getting ideas too LOL
