The CC Page Turn effect in After Effects is pretty basic and a bit cheesy-video-effect looking. But you can make something that looks reasonably cool by animating the fold direction, radius and center to get some variation in how the turn occurs. I used this effect recently and, although still a bit faux, used in conjunction with 3D layers and lighting it wasn't too shabby.

I've also used 3D programs (Cinema4D and Electric Image) to do page turns. A lot more time/effort, but a much more pleasing result the few times I've done it. FWIW
