I was looking at the knoppix site the other day and considering trying it, how is it like?
|
Knoppix is real good for beginners, all it requires is one CD, no HD space is needed.. and if you screw something up, just restart the computer and it works again, if you are new to linux, it is one of the best.

ive never tried linux, so whats it like?. i might get into it, apparently unix is meant to be the best one though, because it was made for graphics freaks.

Well, it does have Gimp, which is the GNU Image Manipulation Program.. and is comparable with Photoshop, but with a little learning curve. Linux does support Blender as a 3D application, even though I have never used it..
Believe it or not, if you have ever used FTP, 99 out of 100 times, you would have used Unix or Linux, most of the web servers in the world are Unix or Linux ran, Apache is actually made for Unix systems, with just a port to windows..
Personally, I have now installed Red Hat next to Windows XP, I like Red Hat basically because it is the most widely used distro.. here is a freshly installed system, please ignore the convo windows..

It does have a better shell then Windows.. which is worth it in my case..
