There's no colour scheme which will make your site zing i'm afraid, and anyone who says something to the contrary is talking out of their behinds. Effective design is a heady mix of colour complements (i.e. making sure all the colours fit together well), ease-of use issues, lots of content, and a healthy splash of individuality. Its probably easier learning how NOT to make a site than listening to people's opinions on what makes something great. Take a peek over at
