A quick Desaturation followed by a levels adjustment will get you something like the attached picture. It should be easy to work with then.

edit: I should add that your best bet for a logo is to import the drawing into Illustrator and use that to create a nice vector logo. You could also redraw the logo in Photoshop using it's vector tools to get a decent looking version, but just cleaning it up is going to get you crappy results. You are going to have to redo it to get a nice looking version.
